Nutritional yeast is a health-conscious foodie's dream come true. This inactive yeast has a nutty, cheesy flavour and makes an excellent condiment. Used in a variety of ways, but most popular as an ingredient to make a vegan 'cheese.' Make a sauce or a dressing, thicken sauce or just sprinkle on top of your favourite dish.

  • Vitamin B-1, vitamin B-2 & vitamin B-3 
  • Vitamin B-6 & vitamin B-12
  • Folate & zinc

1/4 cup contains: 60 calories, 5g of carbohydrates, 4g of fibre, 9g of protein & 0.5g of fat.

 

 

RECIPE:

Easy Vegan Cheese Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup coconut milk canned (180g)
  • 3 tbsp nutritional yeast
  • 2 tbsp arrowroot starch
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • Pinch of smoked paprika (optional)

 

Instructions:

1. Put all ingredients into saucepan, stir continuously and bring to a boil.

2. Simmer on low-medium heat until the sauce is stretchy (about one minute).

3. Enjoy!
